specifications so it is water
resistant with an IP68 rating
and very well built. It has various settings including LED target indicator, sound and it even vibrates. Manuals can be found online. They are turn on and go but like most all good detectors learning the settings will net you better results. I also have the Garrett atx and I prefer this model over it but with that said I have never been a big Garrett fan and preferred Minelab over Garrets plasticky beep beep boop grunts. I had the minelab PI mine detector and the CEIA, this one was also better than those in my opinion. My VMC-1 lives behind my truck seat and is always with me. It could even live under the seat.

I got the Vallon MW 1630 and it is not at all as sensitive as the VMC1 . The Vallon VMC1 hits on an earring back just fine. the MW 1630 in perfect conditions could just barely pick it up with the sensitivity turned up so high that you could just faintly make it out through the chatter with the earring back needing to touching the coil. It did not matter if it was in dive or land mode. I was under the impression that it was going to be just as sensitive on small metal but it is not. The VMC1 hits deeper overall on everything. Makes some sense since the 1630 has limited settings and adjustments in comparison. I also thought it would be better in dive configuration but it is too large with no way to hip or chest mount the control. It would be great if you could especially since they are overbuilt for the military with a very solid heavy feel.
It could have at least been telescopic like with the VLC1, y
ou have to move the handle and armrest around it does not adjust height/length at all. O well..
