    OFFERS THIS:
    13" NEL TORNADO DD COIL
    For: AT-PRO, AT-MAX, AT GOLD
    At
    Pro Stock Metal Detectors
    , I have always accepted
trade-in metal detectors from my customers.
I carefully inspect and test every unit, and only the
best examples are sold on the online sites like this one.
The reason I do this may actually seem self serving.
I simply want to avoid long distance problems.
    The one
area where it is most expensive to fight with frustrating
issues, is where, and when, shipping is involved, especially at the
    cost of freight today!
If I go to sell a used coil,
it must be fully examined and
    tested
. It is not simply tested with a multi-meter
it must be tested on an actual metal detector!
One thing I check is the overall condition of the coil cord,
also, the coil mounting ears, plug assembly, and all sealed points.
A search coil can look brand new and actually be no good!
For example; on a bad coil, I start inspecting the coil cord starting at
the coil, working my way up the cord.
Did you know coils have a natural predator to worry about?
That's right, if you were a search coil you would tremble at the site
of any sized cat! Cats love to sink their teeth into coil cords!
Especially, if the coil has been swept through fragrant vegetation
or around any place where other critters have left a scent!
Same is true for other animals like raccoons and puppies!
Their needle sharp teeth marks are nearly invisible!
Search coil cords are not replaceable in most cases. The wires on a search
coil enters the coil through a watertight compression fitting with a
spring like strain relief fitting on the top of the coil.
This fitting is not a coupling
, the coil wires continue on into the
coil where the wires are soldered to a shield connection, a transmitter winding, and
a receiver winding. In most cases, the fine wire windings are encased  in
expanding foam or rock hard epoxy to give strength
    and stability . . .
they do not come apart for service.
    1.
All coils are tuned or 'trimmed'
    (Ground Canceled)
    for the
proper coil sensitivity at the factory
    (PRE-SET)
    ground cancel.
    2.
    By the the user
    (MANUAL)
    ground cancel.
    3.
Or a slow continual automatic tuning,
    (AUTOMATIC)
    ground cancel.
This is a process that is handled by the actual detector the coil matches. This
is another reason we test coils on an actual detector. This is the only
way to be sure if there is a problem, the culprit is the detector, and not the coil!
A search coil is very similar to an amateur radio antenna. It must be
frequency matched in wave length to the transmitter. If it is out of alignment, in
one direction or the other, the performance will suffer from poor depth, or
with the other possible problem, the power may not even reach the coil!
This can create a power back up on the circuit board itself
    causing serious damage.
A search coil must match the detector it is to be used on!
It must be a match for the exact model not just the make.
If the coil plug will not match the detector plug, there is a good reason!
Many older coils may have been promoted as "Waterproof" but
with age, the seams and the cords can crack, so every thing should be
carefully inspected. If a new coil is promoted as waterproof
that is NOT for a lifetime.
    NEVER
use ridged fasteners to tie the coil cord to the detector
stem. Fasteners such as plastic wire ties can ruin a coil over time!
These rigid fasteners will create a hinge-point
which will break down the wires, and the internal shielding, from flexing.
Even  nothing more than vibration can destroy the cable from the inside!
Use velcro strips or even electrical tape, anything with some give.
WE INSPECT FOR ALL THESE THINGS
    This coil is a
    NEL Tornado 13 inch DD
    Full Scan Search Coil
    Includes Coil Skid Cover
A "D-D" coil gets its name from the coil winding's lay-out.
On a D-D coil, the transmitter winding and the receiver winding
are shaped like capitol "D's" laid back to back.
This creates a full -depth hot spot that runs from the toe-to-heel
All the way down the center.
The DD coils will actually go deep all the way down the full coil length!
No need to overlap for full coverage!
This coil is perfect for hunting vast beaches and  farm fields for deep
    coins and relics!
I have been a metal detector dealer since the late 1960's and I can assure you that this detector is working correctly in every way.
A search coil must be built with a very tight frequency match for each detector application. A perfect wave match assures the user of the greatest
potential depth (or field range), the greatest ground cancel control, and to protect
the detector's final output circuitry! It is an exacting science!
In the past, one of the well known mail-order hustlers, promoted a after market coil
boasting "improved depth" . . . NOT! They were so far miss-matched to the detectors, that
the major companies threatened to void the detector's warranty if they were used!
Getting it right is that big a deal!
Better Ground Cancel, Stable Operation, Greater Depth, Better Pinpointing, Target ID Accuracy.
    INCLUDES COIL SKID COVER
