Let me give you a simple old school example of how
multi~frequency gives you a performance advantage.
Back in the early 80's, the company Teknetics, a spin-off from
White's Electronics, developed an amazing detector. They offered the
first detector with Tone ID, Target ID, Depth Reading and Adjustable Notch.
So as a dealer, I was thinking NOBODY would buy anything less.
In the meantime, Fisher Research, out of Los Bano's, CA. introduced
the Fisher 1260-X. This was a extreme low frequency no frills beeper. It didn't even
have a meter for battery check . . . I had no interest in stocking it. I guess
you could say, "Teknetics had blown me away!"
My Fisher distributor started encouraging me to try one of the new 1260-X
detectors each-and-every time we spoke.
Finally he said, "Al, I will give you free a 1260-X to keep,
if you promise me you will run it."
It took a while to get the hang of it. What got me hooked was when
I started finding silver coins deeper than I had ever found even copper
coins! This, in areas I had already gone over several times!
I had not ran any detector this deep before! I was hooked!
BUT! I over estimated its power when I went on a treasure hunting vacation
to the western U.P. in Iron County, MI. and I was truly shocked!
That deep detector fell on it face! Where did all that depth go????
The powerful ultra-low frequency 1260-X was literally over-driving the ground!
It was as if I was running high-beam headlights into a blinding snow-storm! Instead
of pushing power into the ground, the ground was pushing a reflection back!
Back at home;
I had been selling the new Tesoro detectors. I really liked them
because, they where very well made, and very hot on small jewelry!
